July 2026 Newsletter
Jul 05, 2026Written by Artem Kachanovskyi 3p, Editor-in-chief of the European Go Journal
The European Go Yearbook 2025 was published at the beginning of May. Print copies have already been sent to many different countries. You can still order your own copy! Unfortunately, I will not come to the EGC in Turkey this summer to present the Yearbook in person like last year, but worldwide delivery is included in the price.

The March & April 2026 edition of the EGJ was published in June. The majority of its pages was dedicated to such important events as the European Professional Championship in Bucharest and the European Youth Championship in Croatia. Besides the detailed tournament reports and photography, we also included interviews with the respective winners: Andrii Kravets 3p and Larion Syrotkin 3d (U12). Andrii commented on his game against Mateusz Surma 4p from the European Professional Championship, and you will also find commentary by Stanisław Frejlak 2p on his game against Zhang Xinyu 6p from the 4th Quzhou-Lanke Cup World Go Open. If you missed this edition, I strongly recommend you to purchase it on our website!
The cover art for the March & April 2026 edition was made by Alizée ChabinWe plan to release the next issue, May & June 2026, in July. We will report on such important European tournaments as the Prague Tournament Old Hunter’s Cup, Dutch Open and Vienna Open.
The European team participated in the Chinese C League in June, and the May & June edition will also feature an interview with one of the team members: Benjamin Dréan-Guénaïzia 1p. Benjamin participated in this tournament for the first time and kindly agreed to share his impressions. I will also comment on the game that Tanguy Le Calvé 1p won against Luo Jingqi 6d from the Shandong Weiqi Association Team.

The world stage has seen plenty of exciting events in May and June as well. As usual, we will report on the most important of them. For instance, Wang Xinghao 9p won the 31st LG Cup, one of the most prestigious international professional tournaments. In the May & June edition, I will review the third and deciding game of the final match he played against Shin Minjun 9p.
